Sisters in Sorrow

Category: My Poetry

holding-hands.jpg

– for a friend

You stand there

close to grief sorrow

not yet sleeping

loss too near

intimately entwined

with each rising breath

the sobs catch

and wait—

for a simple memory

to release them

from their cage

and fall into your eyes

I’ve stood there before

my feet can fit

into your damp prints

on the other side

under the weight of years

my grief lies hidden

in the periphery of night

the sorrow lurks

waiting to sneak into light

lodge in my throat

fall into my eyes

you and I

we are sisters in sorrow

A very tender and touching piece of the undying support of a true friend.

Oh, so beautiful and hauntingly sad. I loved it.

You have expressed the elements of grief and consoling perfectly. Excellent.
