Seattle in March
has been all week
gray and rainy and dark green
the colors of the city washed clean
coffee shops—3 or 4 to a block
cappuccinos and lattes spill out the doors
puddles of left over rain water
in the streets and on sidewalks
murmurs from the people walking
dressed in raincoats
carrying their shopping bags
and their coffee
the rain starts and stops
like the buses on the street

If you’re in seattle I’d love to have a cup of coffee. Drop me an email.
Being a Seattleite I’ve got a lot of rain poems, here’s one of them: RAIN NAMES
I like this, similar to a poem that I wrote about New York in the rain/spring. But I do like yours better – it sounds more poetic than mine.
I’m wondering if all city feels the same when it rains.
I personally love rain, perhaps, I should move to seattle.
Your poem is great.
Very descriptive! I can relate to this living in Boston. And we’re no slouches in the coffee drinking department.
Great Piece..seriously.
WOW very sweet pam… ~_^
i always admire the state of seattle, cause its the home town of my hero… Kurt Cobain
My brother-in-law played with Kurt before he was anybody. Paul said his band would play under the overpasses of the freeway and the hwy 99 viaduct down by the waterfrong.
Beautiful: love the way you compare the stop and go of the buses to the rain. I live in London, and can definitely relate to it
