Once Alive
moth lost in a flame
broken wings scattered about
one lies within wax
the other shimmers in light
reminders of once warm life

What happens sometimes when we get too close to the fire. Thanks for this poem, Pam. I can see it and feel it.
Beautiful poem and photo. Thank you for sharing them.
Sad but beautiful. Love the photo too.
Lovely response to “warm” this week, Pam! Thank you!
Another life flickers out, so sad. Beautiful Tanka for the prompt this week.
I really admire all the layers in this tanka. It is sad but very lovely.
Really great!
Beautiful poem.
GReat imagery!
warm feelings
Yes,
The flame draws the moth, but deadly if gotten too close. I like the symbolism you allow the reader to have on their own - they can take it literal or abstract. Fabulous.
oh, delicate and lovely.
Wise poem! I like it very much.
…the vision of broken wings is disheartening tho the tanka itself is beautiful and the photo!
This was beautifully written. The photo is amazing! G
Beautiful picture, and interesting and poetically pleasing twist on the concept of warmth. Thanks
Tragic but beautiful
This is wonderful. Love the poem, and the photograph.
