Given the current state of wildfire in my area, this piece makes me all the sadder, for the forests as well as its inhabitants.
very sad comment on what is happening all too often
Beautiful. Sad, ugly truth, but beautiful poetry.
This makes me think of the moon as a reflection of what is happening here. When I think of the moon as a symbol of womanhood and mothering, I think of how deeply hurt this world is. Thanks for this poem, Pam.
sadness written with such beauty…
What a wonderful haiku expressing our problems. Your photo is complements it perfectly.
This is so sad but true.
Your haiku and photo well express our state of being with the earth.
Assigning the world human capabilities helps open our eyes to the suffering we cause mother earth. Thank you for this poignant and thought provoking poem
Very powerful. On a literal level this speaks to me because of last summer’s fires which were burning all around us.
Hauntingly beautiful, Pam. Thank you for sharing.
Blood moon..I like that!
ravages of time
out of control fires are frightening… beautiful portrayed in words and photo
I love that first line. Right now, I am reading a book about a wildfire in New Mexico, so have been thinking on this subject a lot.
it’s simply beautiful..
“the world is bleeding”… so true… I agree with Vixen - hauntingly beautiful is perfectly describing how this makes me feel.
When I was living in Oregon we had a huge wildfire in our “backyard”. Over 500,000 acres burned, most in a wilderness area. Fire started in the first week of July and didn’t go out until the November rains came. This experience definitely influenced this poem.
Truly talented poetry! A wonderful response to the prompt! Thank you!
I hear of the fires scorching everything in their paths, and I fear a similar outbreak here. Your poem is perfect. Very powerful. Very evocative.
