Threshold of Silence

Category: My Poetry

the doorway lies before us

we wait at the threshold of silence

between past and future

to dwell in this threshold

holding silence close and dear

neither here nor there

wait as the seconds become minutes

moving on to months and years

silence surrounds silence

take it in and wait

until the time comes

then– just breathe and take a step

Pamela, thanks for the prompt “Doorway.” Mine will be up late today or tomorrow! The idea of taking that step through the doorway is such a positive and brave thought! :)

I think this stanza: “to dwell in this threshold/holding silence close and dear/neither here nor there” renders perfectly the experience of being in a portal or doorway. Thanks for this wonderful contribution to OSI, Pam.

What this says to me is that every choice has consequence, and between them is a portal, until we breathe and take a step. I love this!
