Rest Me
in the dark forest
on a bed of ferns
purple-shadowed and cool
rest me
in the soft meadow
grass heads heavy
whispered lullabies
rest me
in the shallow water
at the feet of the heron
patiently waiting
rest me
in the keel of the boat
tethered against the drift
rocking— rocking
rest me
