Sunflower

The sunflower’s face

follows the sun through the day

one darkened eye bows

worshipping the earth’s cool soil

as the day turns into night

I, too, hadn’t thought of sunflowers that way – a dark eye. I will never see them again without remembering that. Thanks for adding to my enjoyment.

What a great use of this prompt Pam, loved it! I’m a big fan of sunflowers; to me they are a beautiful flower right up there with roses and lilacs…

Immediate visual combined with the salty taste of seeds.

Wonderful, first they arc and then bow. With the rising and the setting of the sun, like puppets to the light they follow their namesake.

I laughed at this one! All my flowers are facing east in the morning. My next garden is going to be west of the house!!

This one speaks volumes to me. Proof of a designer?

I like the way you bring in the cool earth… nice work!

Oh, and Brad, for me the fractal patterns in the seeds at the heart of the sunflower are for me evidence of the amazing complexity that can arise from simple things! No less beautiful though ;)

Lovely. When I was little sunflowers were scary to me because of their size, but now they make me smile.
