Wake Me

Category: My Poetry

wake me when you rise

shadow and light fall

softly on the stone stairway

bars of soft shadows

imprison me here

at the bottom of the stairs

stone cool against my feet

charm my climb

wake me when you rise

your pale light guides

me in a dark journey

across night’s map

ancient sky sojourner

when I return home

will I find light and

moondust in my hair

To be imprisoned by shadows, to be led by the “ancient sky sojourner”–what a beautiful love poem!

How lovely! ’stone cool against my feet charm my climb’ reminds me of sneaking out of bed when I was a child and climbing back up to safety as though I had gotten away with something deliciously mischievous! Perhaps sprinkled with pixie dust!

I love the way this progresses – the first stanzas seemed to me to be about a person, and then the sudden realization that it’s addressing the moon. Lovely surprise!

“Wake me when you rise.” How many times have I made this request. I generally thought mornings, for sure I was thoughtbound!
I do remember waking meteor showers and Northern Lights. For sure that wasn’t morning, nor was it to go to work on the midnight shift at NASA.
    Thank you.
Thank you also for reading my little poem, when we think about it, we use a lot of people things for our pets. :-)

This is a wonderful photo lending itself to all sorts of interpretations of your words. The dark and shadows and moon suggest an aloneness in your dream scape.

Wow, I love this. It’s mystical and mythical with just a tinge of the magical.

Exquisite. The blend between light/dark, real/dream is terrific.

That is an awesome response to the prompt. I didn’t even join in this time, due to lack of inspiration.
