I Give You (for Rick)

August 13th, 2008 | Category: My Poetry

I give you my hair

weave it into a garment

loose and flowing

flecked with the sun’s golden light

I give you my mouth

take it for sustenance

soft upon yours

filling your lips with murmurs and sighs

I give you my bones

fasten them here and there

strong and solid

reflections of my love for you

Pamela Olson, 8/13/08

Written for my husband of almost 29 years

and inspired by the prompt at Poefusion

“They want to make buttons out of my bones”

from a poem by Gregory Corso
