To Look at You
to glance sideways
toward your face
fleeting
then to settle
for a longer gaze
how many minutes
or hours have there been
through all these years
glimpses
sure stares
I am never bored
Pamela Olson, 8/2/08

by the words ‘bored’, ‘habit’,
and ‘settle’ at Three Word Wednesday

I like this! I could feel the movement of your eyes and mine started doing the same thing as I was reading it! Very effective!
This is wonderful. How you can capture the mood and essence of a quick glance or a longer stare in such a few words amazes me. Excellent.
Very touching and extremely well observed (no pun intended!)
The power of a glance perfectly portrayed.
I liked that very much, Pam. All I could do was come up with a lecture on why it is so wrong to be bored!
A lovely poem, the brevity and conciseness of each phrase opens volumes of meaning beyond the words. I have to acknowledge the photograph, too. I am always attracted to the interior world of reflections, and was fascinated by the open hand in this one.
Great observation! Enjoyed the warmth in this piece!
I really loved this…and the photo was strikingly perfect!
Wow, that photo is just as striking as the tenderness and beauty of the words. I was amazed to read the words being used in such a heartfelt, honest and adoring way – especially since I took a very dark route with the words. There are so many aspects of this poem I really love, the pace, the trueness of habitually looking over in our human exchanges to read expressions = just lovely thank you for sharing it with us!

I would love to know what you think!
O h you have stopped by! thank you!
lovely lines.
i like the imagery, from quick glances, to more drawn out stares.
I really like this. We’ve all been there, whether it was high school home room or twenty years of marriage. The glances, the longer gazes. Very nicely done poem.
Just a quick note to let you know I’m mentioning your blog in a post today, it’ll be up in a few minutes. Cheers!

I love that, even after all those years, she’s never bored looking into those eyes. Fabulous.
I love the fact that there is still affection. Wonderful!
Very well put!

you’ve taken the everyday glances we sometimes take for granted and made them so special…what a blessing!!
