Resolution
clicks and turns
focus
unfocus
try to read the lines
letters unlinked
nonsense
no poetry in this dark room
only music heard
in soft inhalations and exhalations
whispered words of instruction
better— not better
choose one
then choose again
in the end
the lights flip on
and my blurry sight is resolved

Really enjoyed this, as one who has worn glasses for almost 50 years! And I will think of this poem in every exam from here on, I’m sure, especially that soothing (usually bland) music!
Ah, the eye test. I have sat there trying to make something of the letters…Never do I succeed! This is wonderful, Pam. Thanks.
I love this! I always hate those tests. I can never decide which is better and I fret terribly that I have made the wrong choices. Not easy being me. This was good.
A necessary evil, those tests. Liked how you put it.
This is so totally accurate and descriptive; wonderful!!! Been there and sat in the chair again as I read this.
Oh, how I hate those tests, especially the air poof test for pressure. I always bang my head and chin when I jump!
Been there so many times and you really nailed the descriptions and emotions.
Great start! Beautifully done!

Compelling take on the prompt!
In-sight-ful! My eyes just recently shifted gears!
..a lovely poem..many thanks..
I have to do this shortly, and now I will be thinking of your excellent poem.
This was great! I also hate that “poof” of air but valuable diagnostic nonetheless. Well done Pam. G
Love the idea of blurry sight being resolved! Delightful poem!
