Cosmic shifts in matter
through eons of timelessness
super-heating, super-cooling
super-colliders mocking creation
slices of light far-flung
into the curves of space
straight-arrowed waves
following their nature
separate yet one
until they reach the atmosphere
shattering, stuttering
indigo, red, yellow
all the colors seen and unseen
prismatic fractures
of light

I’m reminded of the aurora borealis here and how beautiful light/ color can often times be. Nice job. Have a nice day.
I really enjoyed this, it holds a lot of extra meaning for me because I’m something of a rock hound. I’m always bringing home rocks and fossils I find, and when friends travel someplace intriguing, I always say, “Bring me a piece of…” I also haunt rock shops and shows looking for enhydros crystals – regular crystals with bubbles of liquid trapped inside. I’ve got clear quartz, ameythst, selenite, agate. I love holding them to the light and turning them, watching the chambered bubbles slide. This is what I envisioned in your poem, the eons, the shift, the mind-numbing age and conditions that create such beautiful objects. Your poem reminded me of the pleasures, and I thank you for it!
This is nice! I love astronomy and for some reason this reminds me of the night sky.
Beautiful fractures, beautiful description. Your style here is very Whitman-esque (“indigo, red, yellow/all the colors seen and unseen”) as he used listing as a powerful poetic device, then finished by referencing opposites, including them as one. Good stuff here.
A sensual crystal necklace in written form.
Pam I would love for you to submit a poem for posting to
