Nature Prevails

Category: My Poetry

how much longer will it stand

above the forest and beneath the sky

rough-hewn castle long abandoned

windows broken like dreams of the past

doorways shattered along the way

walls tumbled and fallen

yet in the quiet whispering of time

vines climb along hidden scaffolding

folding structures back into nature itself

erasing the imprint of knowledge

losing the touch of humanity

until what remains is truly wild again

Even the abandoned must succumb to nature, in time. Well done. Have a nice day.

    This is so touching Pam.

I have a real affinity for old abandoned buildings and houses. I often wonder who lived there, why they were left to decay…so sad. It’s great when a restoration happens, especially when it has appeared that all the grandeur and beauty had been lost forever.
