Dissolution

here in the acute phase of the moon
the sea lays down in briny singularity
pointed as an arrow from shore to horizon
a green current flows from a river’s mouth
the eye watches the outward flow
a dissipation of thirst with every glance
see how the light lies jubilant
rejoice in this changeling water
stand a while on the side of the hill
look to the river’s broad mouth
there just beyond the gravel bar
watch the sleek black flash of a sea lion
the toss of a silvered-bodied salmon
take: eat take: eat
this is a night of moon light magic where
dissolution is the beginning and the end
