The Feel of the Journey

how does wandering feel to the foot
dusty and aching
restless or staid
unbalanced
pleasure
or pain
a small stone
rounded by years away
from its birth place
causes the foot to glide
foward
a little
along the margins
of the pathway lie
green blades crushed
from a previous passing
of
a pilgrim
brush along the grass
and the sweet scent
of chlorophyll rises
staining green
the
bare sole
the foot flexes
its architectural arch
rising like a bow
before
it springs
forward
turn and look
there in the pathway
is the evidence
fossilized and fixed
the journey
written
see what the wandering
has left behind
in the soft dust
and the green grass
the imprint
of a foot

The effort in this is marvellous.
All our living goes into each step. I love this, Pam.
This is amazing .. each foot step tell a tale, and each tale wears down the path of where the foot goes/went … leaves a memory upon the earth, our lives, that none can erase. Yes, you put a lot of effort into this one, and it shows.
A beautiful, almost stop-motion rendering of the topography and physiology of a journey. Wonderful to read!
Hi Pam, this is good. You must walk barefooted. Then you often think of each step, how it is different and the hidden poetic meanings hidden there for you to reveal.
It was one of those smoothed sitting on a step in Ireland that broke my kneecap when I fell. That hurt a lot.
..
i love the meaning of this. there is a story to tell in the journey. one step at a time.
Step after step. This is what it’s like – Lovely!
The imprint of a step. What it replaces and what it carries along. I’ve been too busy to notice.
Yes, I enjoyed this, the way the rhythm leads one on along the walk. Spoke to many of my senses – touch, smell, sight. Thanks.
This was creative and I loved the form. Wonderful!
You’ve made an imprint by the textures you’ve built into this.
What a beautiful poem! I never thought of that- so many things we take for granted!!! Excellent job…thanks~
Pam–
Boy, if you put this much awareness into every step…you’ll soon be at guru status!
Thanks–
