Assimilation
light lies along your side
like a pillar of salt
from some faraway desert
where the sun cuts sharp
here is a land of boundaries
shadows and light locked in place
you stand there unmoving
within a forest of stones
In my dreams I am at your side
part sunlight
part whisper
do you hear me
I will weave myself
between your molecules
of water and salt
of darkness and heat
Differences dissolve
between you and I
let us assimilate
becoming something new

I love the ending to this. Excellent.
Dear Pam–
This is lovely, soft and deep–
Thank you–
It reminds me of my first experience as a teenage repeat offender and the closings of records. How it all assimilated into what I am today through what I was then. Excellent work.

I am reminded how a couple comes together as one reading this. It’s beautiful, exquisite. Have a great night.
Loved the 4th stanza..
stolen from the air
Please don’t forget to post your creative works at Monday Poetry Train Revisited too!
I, too, loved the fourth stanza, but the entire poem is gorgeous. Beautiful read!
Exquisite!! I just love the beautiful imagery..
Hi Pam,
Love this wonderfully visual poem. Nice pairing with the photo as well.

I love the possibilities of transformation and the intimacy you create here.
Good luck! I hope it becomes more than a dream.
Ah, a lovely merging.
I can see the contour of the body ancient and stolid. And the whispers that sing in the field of stones.
The imagery is stunning!
That is magnificent. Truly a delight. “I will weave myself between your molecules” stands out so strongly.
my goodness, you have touched the essence of life within me. Your words, your insight, your ability to seek deeply is rich!
I loved these lines:
part sunlight
part whisper
I love your assimilation, it is very poignant and sensual.
