Poetic Misunderstanding
you would have understood me
had you waited
instead of the backward shuffle
out of the room
trying not to move too fast
you heard my whisper
within the pen scratch
on the roughened paper
the letters forming a cell
where you might languish
you mistook my looks
frightening and fierce
as a cruel captor
luring you toward
the waiting pen and page
the door remains open
an invitation printed on the paper
come and let us speak together
join pen, paper, and hand
until the poem is born

I’m in awe!! The references to the use of pen and paper is so up my alley. You wield a mighty pen and voice through words.
Loved, loved this
like a love poem to writers, at least to me anyway, love it
This is great Pam~ It’s like an invitation to writer’s block to come sit beside you while you write your poem, uninhibited. Well done. Have a great day.
This is wonderful and a brilliant take on the prompt. Thanks so much for taking part in such style.
Great take on the prompt – you move right into this with clarity and no small bit of compassion. Nice.
