Welcome to the new Coosa Creek Mambo, ported over from Blogger to WordPress. I’ve installed WordPress here at my domain, CoosaCreek.org. The idea is to provide a community of blogs centered around the arts, with a Southeastern accent. Installing WordPress in this way is a sight more flexible than either the WordPress- or Blogspot-hosted sites.

This blog is about just what it says, film, politics and religion; Two things your mama warned you never to discuss, plus one. Film is a growing interest of mine, politics maddens me, and I’m a professional Christian. That’s right, I’m a preacher, and like all us seminary-trained preacher types, I can’t not think theologically about stuff. Seminary trains us to think theologically. It’s diabolical that way.

I’ve always liked movies, but only in the last few years have I made an effort to understand them. I’m slowly becoming conversant in the language of film, and the technical stuff that produces coherency and meaning in that language. When we moved to Tuscaloosa (where the Tusks, of course, are loosa), and I became reacquainted with Netflix, I began catching up on the great cinema of the world that I was too stupid to see when I was younger — even though I grew up in Seattle, where the great Guild 45 still reigns. Since we moved here, I’ve concentrated on foreign film, something that’s caused my wife to accuse me of being a snob. Maybe so, but my defense is that I’m just making up for lost time.

I’m going to port some of the content on the old site over here over the next few days, taking the opportunity to delete some of the stuff that wasn’t so hot. Unfortunately, can’t do the same for the comments . . . I don’t think . . . can you?  Hmmm . . .

Anyway, enjoy!
