It is indeed the season, Rachel ... my daughters was held at a beautiful late-1800's house on an acreage, in front of a pond with dipping swallows and cute ducklings. The weather here in Seattle is usually dicey through July 4, and this was no exception . . . although it didn't rain, it was a little chilly and partly cloudy.

Luke -- it is very cool to perform your own child's wedding. Tell your Dad congrats for me. I've performed a few more weddings than he has, however. I used to be in a tiny resort town on the southern coast of Oregon (Gold Beach). A lot of tourists wanted to come and get married on the beach, in the forest, etc., and I got pretty good at it.

I always find it amusing when people say that a wedding went off "without a hitch"...when technically, every wedding goes off with a hitch. (Get it? A "hitch"? Yeah, okay, that was dumb.)

Seriously, though...just got back from my older brother's wedding, performed by my preacher dad, so this sounds somewhat familiar. :) Believe it or not, though, that was the first wedding he'd done since getting ordained some 20-odd years ago. It was a fun wedding, though. He should do more of them.

Not sure if anyone cares about any of that, but I thought I'd share. :)

Pat, thanks: the wedding went off without a hitch, the bride looked beautiful, I didn't mess up the ceremony (too much), and all went well.

Evan, I'm gonna go see the Johnnie To. After all, it is father's day, after all. And yes, it's kinda weird to be marrying her off.

You do lover yourself some Hong Kong gangster flicks, so I say go with what you love. My wife chides me because at certain restaurants I always order the exact same meal, but why should I pay $15 to experiment on something I may like when I know I can get something I will like?

And congrats on your daughter's wedding! Is this your first child to get married off? My daughter is only 20 months now, but I can't imagine what it will be like to send her off with another man for the rest of her life.
