Trailer Lazy: Save Me
Sep 10th, 2008 | By Rick | Category: Clips and TrailersIn my never-ending quest to bring you the latest in high-technology, state of the art trailers, and to bring me a quick-and-easy post, behold! The trailer from Save Me, about the controversial “ex-gay” movement.

This one falls into the category of “movies I’d like to see but don’t think I could handle.”
That was one intense trailer. Phew.
Phillip, I agree. There are some movies that are just too intense. This one might be one of them. Do you think it’ll play Chatanooga? It won’t Tuscaloosa, I’m sure.

state of the art trailers, and to bring me a quick-and-easy post, (ha!) behold!
Thanks Rick,
Now one question…Is this a made-for-tv movie? or is this an Independent film? or will this film be coming to a theatre near us? …Oops!…that is 3 questions
DCD
It’s a theatrical release that’s playing in NY right now. I’d say given the subject matter and its indie status, it depends on where you live as to whether it will be coming to a theater near you. I’d be very surprised if it played anywhere around here.
OMG!… that trailer is sooooo gay!
Well … it is about gays. Whaddya want it to be? Butch?
I’m always surprised at what ends up hitting Chattanooga. It may have a slim chance of a one week run at a downtown theater, but that would be it.
The trailer reminded me a lot of Mysterious Skin … a film that I did get all the way through, but had to stop a few times so I could regroup and calm my heart rate.
And playing here in Silver Spring too, just minutes from my humble abode. It’s playing at the AFI Silver Theatre but I rarely make it out to movies and when I do it’s usually older classics the AFI is playing instead. Also, to me, and I may be completely wrong on this, it doesn’t look to have the same dramatic depth as Brokeback Mountain. At least judging from the trailer, it looks a little sappy, maybe even schmaltzy. But it’s a trailer, I could be completely wrong.
Phillip,
I haven’t seen “mysterious skin,” and I hope this one gets to Chatanooga.
Jonathan — I wish I lived near the Silver Theater …
Anyway, I think you might be right … from the trailer, it seems to be a little more melodramatic. From the interview I read somewhere with the actor who plays the guy who goes into the “ex-gay” program, it tries to be balanced on both sides.
From what I can gather, the “ex-gay” movement is so morally and otherwise bankrupt, I may see the flick just to see how they can do it.
