Yeah, I think that often Newman’s evident goodness as a human being overshadowed his acting talent.

it’s hard not to admire Paul Newman for putting his money to work in such productive ways, such as his Newman’s Own line–high quality stuff and the proceeds go to good causes… very smart.

Oh I agree with everyone here, and I leave this comment to voice my own grief at this great man and actor’s passing. Nice clip there. My favorite Newman films are HUD, MR. AND MRS. BRIDGE and THE HUSTLER, but there are many others of course.

He was one of the last real Movie Stars (note the capital letters). For those of us of a certain (ahem!) age, we kind of grew up when he was around.

Although he was a fine actor, perhaps the human being aspect of it was most remarkable.
